On the occasion of the 19th Anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Armenia, President Serzh Sargsyan today at the Presidential Palace handed state awards.

Congratulating the awardees, President Sargsyan said,

“Award ceremonies usually take place in the framework of festive events and, in general, celebrations present excellent opportunity to address words of appreciation and admiration to those who deserve our daily attention, who accomplish their mission diligently, and who move our society forward.

We state relentlessly that people are our greatest asset. I would like to add that distinguished individuals are our greatest asset, individuals who fulfill their task meticulously. We are grateful to all those who do their work tirelessly, with inspiration, diligence, great sense of responsibility; in many instances these individuals probably do not get the appreciation they deserve, but eventually good work will not go unnoticed.

I cordially congratulate you on the 19th Anniversary of Armenia’s Independence. We are heading toward the 20th Anniversary of Independence; it is still young age for a state but at the same time it is compelling. Much has already been done, however we all realize that there is even more to be done. And I am confident that with your assistance, through the active participation of our distinguished and talented individuals, we will be able to address all problems which our statehood and our state face. We never recoil in face of challenges, because to recoil would mean to surrender, to give up. We are not the kind to surrender or to give up.

I once again congratulate you all, and wish you happiness, good health and greater fervor for new achievements - for the glory of our Motherland.”
