Today, President Serzh Sargsyan invited a meeting on the Sevan Lake issues, which was attended by the members of the Sevan Lake Commission created by the decision of the President and the Heads of relevant state bodies.

The Head of the Commission Vladimir Movsissian presented activities of the Commission, the course of implementation of the tasks assigned by the President of Armenia in 2010, and the plan of works for 2011.

According to Vladimir Movsissian, events planned in 2010 were implemented in full and in the preset time-frame. He also spoke about a number of problems related to the Lake which remain topical even today.

Armen Harutyunian, the RA Minister of Nature Protection reported on the shore cleaning works.

The President noted that although during two years of its existence the Commission has accomplished a considerable amount of works - the Commission have met many times, a number of expert discussions have been held over important issues, many of those issues have been presented as proposals to the Government of Armenia and some of them served a base for issuing Government decisions - the pace of addressing the problems still remains slow. President Sargsyan stressed that the accomplished works and some results, which so far remain noticeable only for experts, should be observable for any one who visits Sevan.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the President of Armenia issued instructions to the Sevan Lake Commission and to its Head, to the Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Territorial Administration, the Ministers of Nature Protection, Transport and Communications, the Governor of Gegharkunik marz and the Head of the State Cadastre Committee.
