President Serzh Sargsyan received today the PACE Monitoring Co-Rapporteurs on Armenia John Prescott and Axel Fischer.

The President of Armenia welcomed the guests and since this is Mr. Fisher’s first visit to our country, wished him success in his tenure as the PACE Co-Rapporteur for Armenia.

“We have had a number of occasions with Mr. Prescott to speak about the benefits of cooperation in the framework of the EC. We truly appreciate assistance provided to us by the European structures aimed at further development of our country, strengthening of democracy, protection of human rights and enforcement of the rule of law. I am confident that this time too, there will be valuable observations and recommendations. We are ready to listen and work jointly. We face these challenges, and genuinely strive to address these problems. We highly appreciate assistance along the way,” said President Sargsyan at the meeting with the PACE Monitoring Co-Rapporteurs.

Co-Rapporteur John Prescott noted that after March 1, changes that have been taking place are observable – they see and feel them including in the meetings and conversations with the RA President.

“These changes are being estimated and measured by the formula and proposals that have been made by us in this regard. Mr. President, the important thing here is political will you have showed. We took note of that will to fulfill the assumed obligations, and changes that are really necessary. We have reported those changes to the Parliamentary Assembly too,” said John Prescott.
