President Serzh Sargsyan sent a message to the participants of the Chernobyl disaster relief works

The message states,

“Dear Compatriots,

Twenty-five years ago, in one corner of the then huge united country, in Ukraine, next to Chernobyl town a greatest disaster in the global energy history took place. Many of Armenia’s courageous sons immediately responded to the tragedy and arrived to the disaster zone, making their contribution to the relief works.

Today, we bow to the memory of all those who at that difficult time lend a hand to the brotherly people of Ukraine, to those who didn’t come back from the Chernobyl battlefield. We also bow to the memory of those who survived that brutal struggle and despite serious damage to their health today continue to prove resilience and undying resolve of the Armenian people to live.

Dear Friends,

Events dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster prove that the Armenian nation doesn’t forget and highly values all its heroic sons, and whenever possible provides for their healing and rehabilitation.

I wish you all good health and many years ahead.”
