Today, President Serzh Sargsyan received representatives of business unions, participants of the Conference of the Armenian Industrial and Commerce Chambers which is held in Armenia April 29-30.

President Serzh Sargsyan welcomed our compatriots, who have arrived to Yerevan from many countries of the world to participate at the Conference, and noted that it is very important and mandatory for every Armenian to visit regularly the Republic of Armenia to see first hand and feel the achievements and problems of the historical Fatherland, and take pride in the fact that despite numerous difficulties, we have independent statehood which looks with optimism into the future, which registers progress and has confidence in that future.

The President of Armenia noted that beside the familiarization visits, every Armenian is expected to bring practical participation in the development of our country.

“Unfortunately, many of our brothers and sisters from Diaspora maintain an erroneous view that Armenia is not a place for doing business or making money. This is a very flawed approach because doing business in Armenia and making money in Armenia means most active participation in Armenia’s development - money made in Armenia means also paying taxes, creating jobs, chipping in the GNP, etc. Besides, along with the established businesses, in any way small and medium businesses develop as well,” President Serzh Sargsyan said and urged the participants of the Conference and in their person all Armenian entrepreneurs in Spyurk to participate in the economic development of our country.

Serzh Sargsyan welcomed the joint initiative by the RA Ministry of Diaspora Affairs, Armenian-Canadian Business Council and RA Chamber of Commerce and Industry to establish Armenian Commerce Net company. He expressed hope that the company would become an operational structure in whose person Armenia will have a trustworthy partner, which will come up with initiatives and provide feedback in business-state structure relations.

In their turn, the participants of the meeting also stressed the importance of creating the Armenian Commerce Net, and noted that it could become a reliable link not only with the Fatherland but also become an efficient vehicle for cooperation between different business entities in Spyurk.

President Sargsyan answered also questions of the participants pertinent to the reforms implemented in the country, issues of domestic and foreign policy.
