President Serzh Sargsyan received Daniel W. Yohannes, Chief Executive Officer of the Millennium Challenge Corporation

Today, President Serzh Sargsyan received Daniel W. Yohannes, Chief Executive Officer of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC). He has arrived to our country to familiarize with the results of the five-year program implemented by the MCC in Armenia.

The President of Armenia thanked the Millennium Challenge Corporation for the assistance provided to Armenia, for its efficient programs and underscored that they are among the most successful programs ever implemented in Armenia.

“It is very important that the programs have been aimed at the development of rural infrastructure. We are working hard to complete the unfinished MCC programs through other means to maintain their continuity,” Serzh Sargsyan said. The President also noted that he himself, as well as the Prime Minister of the country have observed the process of programs’ implementation in the marzes and believe that public perception regarding the programs is good.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Millennium Challenge Corporation said that throughout the implementation of the MCC programs he felt the support of Serzh Sargsyan – first, in his capacity as Prime Minister of Armenia, and later, as President. “I have come to see progress achieved in the last five years. I’ve had a chance to meet and talk with the beneficiaries and farmers in the regions where we have renovated, reconstructed the water canals. I am very much impressed. I believe, these investments yielded positive changes which are noticeable for the people too. I spoke with many farmers who told me that thanks to this program they received an opportunity to double, triple and even quadruple their produce and profits,” said Daniel Yohannes.
