President Serzh Sargsyan continues to receive congratulations on the occasion of Armenia’s 20th anniversary of independence

President Nicolas Sarkozy sent a congratulatory message which states:

“Dear Mr. President,

On behalf of France and my own behalf, I convey my best wishes to You and all Armenians on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Armenia’s independence. On September 21, 1991 Armenia reestablished its ties with history and reassumed its right to master its own destiny. Armenia may be proud for everything achieved in the last twenty years, which was very often done in most difficult conditions.

Armenia has instituted democracy, made transition to market economy and established its place on the international arena. Al this has been accomplished also due to the courage and diligence of its people, and I pay tribute to it.

During these years, France and Armenia, joined by ancient and strong bonds, have developed and constantly deepened an efficient cooperation in all areas.

Be assured that France stands by its friend Armenia to assist her in withstanding challenges. I will have the opportunity to congratulate you once again and speak about France’s friendship during your forthcoming official visit to Paris, and later, during my state visit to Armenia which I will have the honor to conduct in the nearest future.”

The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mahmoud Ahmadinejad sent a congratulatory message with states:

“I send my warm congratulations to Your Excellency, Government and friendly people of Armenia on the occasion of the Republic of Armenia’s 20th anniversary of independence.

Historical and cultural ties between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Republic of Armenia have created broad opportunities for the strengthening of bilateral cooperation.

I am confident that pursuing implementation of the agreements signed in Tehran and Yerevan we will create conditions for the expansion of our two countries’ cooperation in bilateral, regional and international formats.

I pray God will give Your Excellency good health and success, as well as prosperity and happiness to the Government and people of friendly Armenia.”
