President Serzh Sargsyan received today participants of the regular meeting of the CIS Interior Ministers Council. Greeting the participants of the meeting, the President noted that 2011 is a jubilee year for the CIS countries since they all celebrate the 20th anniversary of their independence and all together celebrate the 20th anniversary of the creation of the Commonwealth.
According to the President, in the last two decades the CIS with its mechanisms of cooperation and regulatory bodies has matured as a distinct regional interstate structure.
Serzh Sargsyan praised the activities of the Interior Ministers Council, which in his words, has become a working mechanism aimed at the resolution of many particular problems which concern the member states. “We want our cooperation in the framework of the CIS to further develop. The agenda, which you have discussed at the today’s session of the Council and the issues, which have found their resolution as a result of these discussions, are also important for us,” President Sargsyan said.
The participants of the meeting presented to Serzh Sargsyan decisions adopted at the session and pertinent to the fight at the territory of the CIS member states against organized crime and other dangerous crimes. The Ministers of Interior stressed the importance and assessed as valuable work conducted in the framework of the Council. With this regard they hailed also the active work of the Armenian Police.
