President Serzh Sargsyan received the Heads of the Railway Administrations of the CIS member states

President Serzh Sargsyan received today the Heads of the Railway Administrations of the CIS member states, who have arrived to Yerevan to participate at the 55th session of CIS Council on Railway Transport.

The President welcomed the fact that the Council is conducting its session in Armenia for the third time, noting that Armenia is actively engaged in the CIS integration processes and supports further deepening of the relations between the CIS member states. Noting, that in the economic component of the Commonwealth transport infrastructure and railway communication in particular have an important role, President Serzh Sargsyan said that railroad transportation in Armenia has registered certain progress; however in the context of the development of the interregional railroad communication our country still has certain problems.

The Chairman of the CIS Council of Railway Transport and Russian Railways Company Vladimir Yakunin expressed gratitude to President Serzh Sargsyan for once again hosting the session of the Council as well as for his constant attention and consideration for the issues related to railway transport. He stressed the importance of the Strategic Program for the development of the railway transport adopted at the recent meeting of the Council the Heads of the CIS Governments in Saint Peterburg which was also endorsed by Armenia.
