President Serzh Sargsyan received the Vice President of the EBRD Ian Fischer

President Serzh Sargsyan received today the Vice President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Ian Fischer.

The President of Armenia hailed activities of the Bank in Armenia which are aimed at boosting economic activity and encouraging advancement.

Serzh Sargsyan stressed the importance of deepening relations with the EBRD and expressed hope that the visit of the Vice President of the Bank will also enhance cooperation.

At the beginning of the meeting, Ian Fischer first congratulated the President of Armenia on the 20th anniversary of Armenia’s independence, ”This is also the twentieth year of efficient cooperation with the European Bank. During these twenty years, we have made almost 600 million Euro worth investments in Armenia and have been engaged in nearly 100 projects. I assess very positively recent reforms conducted in Armenia, which promote economic advancement of the country and improvement of business climate,” Ian Fischer said.

The Vice President of the EBRD noted that delegation headed by him has arrived to Armenia to develop the Bank’s 2012-2015 three-year strategic plan for Armenia and discuss cooperation priorities. He reiterated readiness of the Bank to carry on with the active cooperation with the Republic of Armenia and assist in conducting reforms in our country.
