President Serzh Sargsyan received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ali Abkar Salehi

Today, President Serzh Sargsyan received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI) Ali Abkar Salehi.

Welcoming the guest, the President of Armenia said that reciprocal visits of the Armenian and Iranian high-level officials create good opportunity for discussing a packed agenda of cooperation, the process of implementation of the agreements reached with the IRI President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as well as for identifying new programs.

“I am glad to note that today Armenia and Iran have high-level relations. The number of joint programs is on the rise, cultural exchanges also become more active,” President Serzh Sargsyan said and expressed satisfaction with the pace of development of economic cooperation between the two countries.

“We are confident that as a friendly country Iran will remaine committed and dedicated to the development of its relations with Armenia,” Ali Akbar Salehi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran said.

In the framework of the upcoming visit of the President of Iran Mahmoud Ahmadinejan to Armenia, the parties discussed programs of cooperation in the areas of energy, transport, communications, tourism, and other.
