President Serzh Sargsyan received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Norway Jonas Gahr Store

President Serzh Sargsyan received today the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Norway Jonas Gahr Store.

The President welcomed the guest and highlighted the importance of the Minister’s visit to Armenia from the viewpoint of boosting the Armenian-Norwegian relations. According to the President of Armenia, this meeting with the head of the Norwegian Foreign Office is also a good opportunity to convey to the people of Norway gratitude of the Armenian nation. “Today, we have heard many words of gratitude addressed to Frityof Nansen. I would like also to stress the name of Bodil Katarina Byorn. These are individuals who after the Genocide had given a large part of our nation an opportunity to somehow alleviate their sufferings and grief and build their future. I would also like to thank the government of Norway for the technical assistance and development programs implemented since 1988,” the President of Armenia said.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Norway Jonas Gahr Store on behalf of the people and government of Norway and his own behalf expressed thanks for warm words about his country and people of Norway and cordial attitude which is proved by the Frityof Nansen memorial unveiled today in the center of Yerevan.

“Despite our rather modest economic relations, it should be noted that we have been able to deepen our political relations, which is a very important starting point,” the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Norway said.

The RA President and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Norway discussed possibilities for the development of the Armenian-Norwegian economic relations, and spoke about regional issues and challenges.
