President Serzh Sargsyan received today the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany Guido Westerwelle.

Welcoming the guest, the President underscored that Armenia values existing friendly relations with Germany and attaches great importance to the dynamic and continuous development of the political dialogue and multifaceted cooperation of the two countries. According to the President of Armenia, our country is keenly interested in deepening relations with friendly Germany in all areas – political, trade and economic, cultural, scientific and educational, military, and others.

In his turn, Minister Guido Westerwelle spoke with satisfaction about the Armenian-German relations and noted that the two states have been working closely for the strengthening of the bilateral relations and treat each other with mutual trust. According to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Germany, this year, when we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Armenia and Germany, his country strives to expand and develop bilateral ties on the basis of the existing achievements.

At the meeting, discussed were also the current stage of the NK peace process and its prospects, regional challenges and problems. The parties concurred that cooperation with Germany is very important also in the context of Armenia’s Eurointegration, considering Germany’s pivotal role in Europe and European structures.
