Serzh Sargsyan received delegation of the PACE, which is conducting a pre-election monitoring for the RA parliamentary elections

The President of Armenia, Chairman of the Republican Party of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan today received delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) headed by Baroness Emma Nicholson, which is conducting a pre-election monitoring for the RA parliamentary elections.

The parties praised Armenia’s cooperation with the CE structures and our country’s active participation in the framework of the Organization in the discussions of the multiple issues present on the pan-European agenda.

President Serzh Sargsyan stressed the importance of the Council in the protection of human rights and democracy, adherence to the rule of law and development, noting at the same time that Armenia’s membership to the CE is an important factor for the implementation of the reforms in our country. Serzh Sargsyan noted that considerable work of conducting reforms has already been done in different areas which will allow to hold the forthcoming elections in compliance with the democratic standards. According to the President, it will in turn enhance deepening and strengthening of democracy in Armenia.

The President of Armenia, Chairman of the Republican Party of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan and members of the PACE monitoring mission discussed issues pertinent to the organization and monitoring of the upcoming parliamentary elections.
