Serzh Sargsyan received the Head of the CIS observer mission Vladimir Garkun

The President of the Republic of Armenia, Chairman of the Republican Party of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan today received the Head of the CIS observer mission at the 2012 RA parliamentary elections, First Deputy Head of the CIS Executive Committee Vladimir Garkun and the Head of the Staff of the mission, Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee Department Evgeni Sloboda.

Serzh Sargsyan welcomed the long-term observers of the CIS member states present at the elections with a presentable mission and expressed confidence that their work will be efficient.

“We have done our best to carry out good elections – free and in line with democratic standards, so that the results inspire confidence to our people and to our partners. It’s very important for us,” President Sargsyan said.

The Head of the observation mission underscored that 173 CIS observers present in Armenia, which represent almost every member state, attach great importance to the May 6 parliamentary elections which, in his opinion, manifests esteem toward Armenia and policies of its President.

Vladimir Garkun hailed the RA Central Electoral Commission’s pre-election work and noted that the Electoral Code of the RA has undergone important and serious changes; the pre-election campaign with its general atmosphere so far has been noted as calm and balanced and the work of the mass media with this regard has also been assessed as positive.
