President Serzh Sargsyan received Stefan Fule, EU Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighborhood Policy

Today, President Serzh Sargsyan received Stefan Fule, EU Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighborhood Policy.

The President of Armenia welcomed the guest and expressed satisfaction with the dynamics registered in Armenia-EU relations, which is also evidenced by the frequency of the high level visits. Serzh Sargsyan expressed hope that this visit of the EU Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighborhood Policy will serve an impetus for the development of Armenia-EU relations.

The EU Commissioner concurred that regular meetings provide the opportunity to discuss in detail the agenda of cooperation and to elevate the bilateral relations to the next, higher level. Stefan Fule noted that he has arrived to our country with the firm conviction that in its integration process Armenia is unambiguously determined to get closer to the European Union and now it is necessary to discuss the framework of capabilities which will also allow to switch from the agenda of reforms to concrete actions and specified how European Commission can be instrumental in that issue.

The parties expressed satisfaction with the considerable progress in the negotiations on Armenia-EU Association Agreement, creation of the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Zone and the EU visa regime facilitation for the citizens of Armenia, which commenced in July, 2010, and which according to the interlocutors proves that on the pivotal issues the parties have a common approach.
