President Sargsyan received the participants of the 19th Conference of the Ministers of Education of the CIS member states

 

Today, President Sargsyan received the participants of the 19th Conference of the Ministers of Education of the CIS member states.

Welcoming the guests, President Serzh Sargsyan underscored the role of the CIS in the enhancement and development of cooperation in the most diverse areas among the members of the Organization. Serzh Sargsyan stressed in particular cooperation in the humanitarian area, noting that the CIS member states were cooperating for decades; together they created an impressive legacy which is to be cherished, preserved and expanded. According to the President, creation of the Interstate Foundation for Humanitarian Cooperation has made interaction of the countries in that area more coordinated. President Sargsyan said that conferences such as this one are very important for learning about each other’s success in this area, discussions related to the common problems, joint search for solutions, and sharing successful experience.

The President of Armenia noted that the area of education in Armenia is under constant attention and consideration of the state; extensive works are being conducted to raise the quality of education, to bring it in line with contemporary requirements and for the encouragement in the framework of the state programs of the best pupils and students of the secondary and higher education establishments. Serzh Sargsyan spoke with the participants of the meeting about reforms implemented in the education sector in our country and forthcoming projects.

Responsible officials of the CIS member states education area also stressed the importance of cooperation and underlined that it is necessary to create general standards for the assessment of the education area, to enhance integration processes in the area of education and science, to develop common approaches in line with the contemporary requirements, as well as to organize Olympiads and events to boost competition and cooperation in the education area.

They also stressed the importance of protecting and pushing forward initiatives aimed at the achievement of that goal at the level of the leaders of the CIS member states.
