President received delegation headed by the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the US Department of State Thomas Melia

 

Today, President Serzh Sargsyan received delegation headed by the US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Thomas Melia.

The President of Armenia welcomed the guest and stressed the importance of such meetings, which, according to the President of Armenia, allow to discuss in the framework of the multifaceted Armenian-American relations issues of mutual interest.

Serzh Sargsyan noted with satisfaction that relations between Armenia and the United States, which are based on mutual trust and respect, are on the high level and have positive dynamics.

The President thanked the US for the active involvement in the NK peace process in the framework of the Minsk Group and for contributing greatly through that involvement to the peace and stability in the region.
The US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State hailed input made by Armenia to the peacekeeping missions in Afghanistan and Kosovo.

At the meeting, the parties spoke also about the upcoming presidential elections in Armenia and stressed the importance of conducting them according to international standards.

The President of Armenia and Thomas Melia highlighted also the importance of democratic reforms going on in our country and efforts aimed at the enforcement of the rule of law and underscored that Armenia’s advancement is impossible without fundamental changes in that area.
