President Serzh Sargsyan received Philippe Lefort, EU Special Representative

President Serzh Sargsyan received today Philippe Lefort, EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the Crisis in Georgia. The President of Armenia noted with satisfaction the ongoing active political dialogue and dynamic cooperation between Armenia and the European Union, and progress achieved in the negotiations on the Association Agreement. Serzh Sargsyan stressed also the importance of reciprocal high-level visits, including the last year visits to Armenia of the President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barosso and President of the European Council Herman van Rompuy.

Positive assessments of the political processes in Armenia by the leadership of the European Union and various European structures, particularly, of the February 18 presidential elections in Armenia, in the President’s opinion serve as a good impetus for the further development of bilateral relations.

Philippe Lefort underscored that Armenia is an important state for the European Union while peace, stability and democracy in Armenia are equally important processes.
