At the event, which took place with the participation of the Ministry staff, representatives of the pan-Armenian organizations, partner-structures of the Ministry, clergy, state, political and public figures and intellectuals who have brought their input to the development of Armenia-Spyurk relations, the President in his welcoming remarks congratulated on the occasion of the jubilee of the establishment of the Ministry, spoke about problems facing the structure, accomplished works, about its mission and future programs to be implemented by the Ministry. Serzh Sargsyan expressed confidence that in the nearest future, the Ministry will call to life major programs aimed at the implementation of national goals and pan-national aspirations and expressed confidence that in a certain period of time through its results it will become a structure which every Armenian is dreaming to see. Serzh Sargsyan wished the Ministry new achievements in its challenging pan-national mission of bringing together potential of the entire Armenian nation, empowering the Motherland and preserving the Armenian Spyurk.

“Five years ago, this state body – the Ministry of Diaspora Affairs - was created to provide a new quality to Armenia-Spyurk relations. It was tasked to work together with our diplomatic service, i.e. the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora organizations, to promote preservation of the Armenian identity, assist in repatriation and enhance the use of the Spyurk potential for the benefit of the Republic of Armenia, for the benefit of the Armenian nation. I am pleased that in this period of time, the Ministry has become the main link of these activities. Numerous programs aimed at the preservation of the Armenian identity are being realized through this very Ministry; they are meant to preserve our identity, mother tongue and disseminate the Armenian culture, and uphold the Armenian traditions.

Among major tasks of the Ministry is to reveal potential of Motherland and Spuyrk, promote joint development and implementation of programs in different areas. Through the professional gatherings, we have already been able to unite thousands people of different occupations. I believe it is a very efficient method.

Dear Compatriots,

Unity of the Armenian nation and our joint potential can multiply our competitive advantage in the contemporary world. In recent years, the Ministry has been able to establish cordial trusted relations with the Diaspora structures and organizations which constitutes a strong base for continuous works.

These organizations are pillars for the preservation of our world-spread people’s national identity. Thanks to them, we are able to pass our spiritual heritage, love for Fatherland, dedication and sense of responsibility from generation to generation. It is necessary to utmost coordinate programs of the state with pan-national programs. It is desirable to have a number of long-term projects with each structure.

Among the most notable achievements, we can mention steps aimed at the preservation of the Armenian cultural heritage. Great work in this area is being conducted with the spiritual structures, first of all, with the Saint Armenian Apostolic Church.

Dear Friends,

The Ministry of Diaspora Affairs has not only become an accomplished formation but also a developing and prospective structure which is engaged in the resolution of the Armenian nation’s agenda issues. This structure is the very mortar which links Spyurk to Armenia, which fortifies and directs that link. Through its five-year activities, the Ministry has proved the purposefulness of coordination and centralization of the state related activities with Spyurk. Works conducted during all these years have created a favorable atmosphere of mutual understanding, mutual trust and cooperation conducive to the combining collective potential of the entire Armenian nation, empowerment of our Motherland Armenia, and preservation of the Armenian Spyurk,” President Sargsyan said.

At the conclusion of the meeting, a group of the Ministry employees and a group of our compatriots were award by the President of Armenia with high state awards and Presidential Letters of Commendation for strengthening the Armenia-Spyurk relations, as well as for their contribution to the preservation of the Armenian identity.
