President received participants of the Ministerial Summit of the Ministers of Education of the EU Eastern Partnership and BSEC

 

President Serzh Sargsyan received today participants of the regional Ministerial Summit of the Ministers of Education of the EU Eastern Partnership and Black Sea Economic Cooperation organization.

The summit, which is dedicated to the issues of development of the European realm of tertiary education, has been organized in the framework of Armenia’s Chairmanship at the CE Ministerial Committee and Black Sea Economic Cooperation organization.

The President welcomed the participants of the Summit to our country and stressed the importance of such events which, according to the President, allow to discuss painstakingly issues related to different areas - in this particular case those of education and science - and to develop coordinated policies.

The President of Armenia underscored that Armenia, just like other participating states, is striving to establish an educational realm corresponding to the European standards, which in turn allows to shape knowledge-based society. President expressed conviction that in the absence of such society it would be difficult to imagine economic and social development. Serzh Sargsyan expressed hope that with this regard the Summit has been efficient. President Sargsyan said that for any country it is crucial and essential to have a well-educated, progressive society, which according to the President is an important guarantee and strong basis for the prosperity of that society and development of the state.

The participants of the meeting presented to the President of Armenia the current situation with education and science in their respective countries, conducted reforms, existing problems and their vision for the resolution of these problems. They hailed the Summit held in Armenia and underlined that it’s been useful as a venue for the discussions on the education and science related issues, development of common approaches for their resolution, and exchange of experience.

The President of Armenia wished success to the Ministers of Education and Science participating in the Summit and to their agencies in their complex and responsible but at the same time critical work.
