Newly appointed Ambassador of Norway to Armenia presented his credentials to President Serzh Sargsyan

 

Today, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Norway to the Republic of Armenia Leidulv Atle Namtvedt (residence in Moscow) presented his credentials to President Serzh Sargsyan.

The president congratulated the newly appointed ambassador and wished him success in carrying out his diplomatic mission in Armenia. Serzh Sargsyan expressed hope that the ambassador is committed to promoting and reinforcing the bilateral interstate ties and collaboration.

The interlocutors stressed the importance of proceeding with effective cooperation in the framework of international organizations, as well as intensifying the bilateral relations at inter-parliamentary level. The President of Armenia and the Ambassador of Norway agreed to expand the bilateral legal field which can offer new opportunities to establish close partnership in various sectors.

The president highly appreciated Norwegian support and development programs being implemented in Armenia, especially highlighting the effective collaboration in the energy and cadastre sectors.

The parties also touched upon the Armenian-Norwegian relations in the humanitarian field. In that context, the President of Armenia and Ambassador Namtvedt paid huge respect to the great Norwegian friend of Armenian people, the polar explorer, scientist and prominent humanitarian Fridtjof Nansen and the missionary Bodil Katharine Biorn who rendered great assistance to Armenian people at the beginning of the 20th century.
