President receives Iranian foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif

 

President Serzh Sargsyan today received Mohammad Javad Zarif, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Welcoming the guest and the delegation headed by him, the Armenian President attached great importance to high-level reciprocal visits which, according to him, provide a good opportunity to discuss the agenda of Armenian-Iranian relations and the prospects for cooperation.

Serzh Sargsyan noted that he warmly recalled his visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran in 2013 and the agreements made during his meeting with President Hassan Rouhani and added that Armenia was ready and keen on fulfilling them, as well as on further upgrading and enhancing relations with the friendly state of Iran.

Foreign minister Zarif underscored that Armenian-Iranian relations could set a good example for the world how Muslim and Christian countries can reach a peaceful symbiosis living side by side. He noted that Iran too is keen on enhancing relations with Armenia as a friendly and reliable partner in all sectors without exception.

At the meeting issues concerning economic cooperation were emphasized, especially consistency in working toward implementation of large projects which, according to the parties, will greatly stimulate trade between the two countries and will have an impact on further intensification of relations in other sectors.

The RA President and the Iranian foreign minister also touched upon contemporary regional and international problems and challenges, placing great value on supporting each other in responding to them and ensuring long-lasting stability and peace.
