President Armen Sarkissian received representatives of the Syrian-Armenian community
President Armen Sarkissian received today representatives of the Syrian-Armenian community who have settled in Armenia. He discussed with them some pressing issues and avenues to solve them. Present at the meeting was also the Ambassador of the Syrian Arab Republic to Armenia Mohammed Ahmad Haj Ibrahim.
During an open and candid conversation, the parties discussed issues related to the integration of the Syrian Armenians to the Armenian society, their education, health care, as well as the economy and business in which very often Syrian Armenians through their skills and diligence are changing the environment. The representatives of the Armenian community of Syria hailed the assistance provided by the government of Armenia during the Syrian crisis. Discussed were also the issues of fostering the Armenian-Syrian trade and economic cooperation, creation of conducive conditions for the Syrian investments in Armenia, and enhanced mobility of entrepreneurs.
The parties agreed to continue consultations on these issues in different formats.
The President of Armenia expressed hope that when the Syrian crisis is fully resolved, Armenians will take up the task of developing their both fatherlands.
