President Armen Sarkissian held meetings in the United Kingdom
President Armen Sarkissian, who is in the United Kingdom, held a number of meetings.
At the working dinner hosted by the UK Minister of State for Europe and the Americas Sir Alan Duncan in honor of the President of Armenia, Armen Sarkissian presented political changes that have taken place in Armenia. He spoke about the reforms that are being carried out in various areas and aimed primarily at the strengthening of the rule of law in the country as well as efforts of the government and society in the fight against corruption.
The parties spoke about the Armenian-British relations and, particularly, about the steps aimed at the development of the trade, economic, scientific and cultural ties.
In the framework of the visit, Armen Sarkissian met also with the Marshall of the Diplomatic Corps in London who on behalf of Her Majesty conveyed warm farewell to Armen Sarkissian who was Armenia’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom for many years.
On June 21, President Armen Sarkissian and Mrs. Nouneh Sarkissian were welcomed at the dinner in the Buckingham Palace hosted by the royal family.
On June 22, President Sarkissian met with the Ambassador of France in the UK Jean-Pierre Jouyet. The parties discussed issues pertinent to the strengthening of the Armenian-French friendship. They also spoke about a business forum to be organized on the margins of the Summit of Francophonie to be held in October, 2018 in Yerevan, opportunities for cooperation of the entrepreneurs of the two countries, as well as educational and cultural ties.
Also on June 22, President of Armenia received the Director of the world-famous Science Museum in London Mr. Ian Blatchford. They discussed issues related to the implementation in Armenia of the joint project called the Museum of the Future. It was noted that creation of a strategic partnership with the Science Museum in London and through it the engagement at a later stage in the Museum of the Future project other major international partners, will be efficient and profitable: It will allow to establish working ties with the leading scientific centers of the world and to connect with the modern trends related to the development of science and technology.
In the framework of the visit, the former Ambassador of Armenia in the United Kingdom gave a farewell reception which was attended by numerous foreign diplomats accredited in London.
