President Armen Sarkissian will conduct a working visit to the US

President Armen Sarkissian has left on a working visit to the United States. On October 3, in New York President Sarkissian will participate at the Annual Awards Gala ceremony of the EastWest Institute. This year, the John Edwin Mroz Global Statesman Award, which is named in the honor of a Co-Founder of the Institute, American diplomat John Mroz, will be bestowed upon the President of Armenia. Among the awardees of the EastWest Institute are the 41st President of the United States George Bush, former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Tony Blair, former German Chancellor Helmut Kohl, former President of the Czech Republic Vaclav Havel, former President of Finland, winner of the Noble Peace Prize for year 2008 Martti Ahtisaari, and others.

The EastWest Institute was founded in 1980. It is a reputable international institution which presents different initiatives, particularly, in the areas of cybersecurity, preventive diplomacy, economic and regional security. In different periods of time, outstanding individuals of the political, business, and scientific worlds, such as the former President of Romania Emil Constantinesku, former Vice Chancellor and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Germany Hans-Dietrich Genscher, the founder of the PepsiCo company Donald Kendall, and many others served as honorary presidents and directors of the Institute.
