Presidents of Armenia and Georgia held a private meeting: Armenian-Georgian cooperation has a huge potential, and everything must be done to make it deeper and more beneficial

A private meeting of the Presidents of Armenia and Georgia took place today at the Presidential Palace.

President Armen Sarkissian welcomed the President of Georgia and expressed thanks for accepting his invitation to visit Armenia. He said that the friendship of the Armenian and Georgian peoples has a millennia-long history and will undoubtedly last for many more thousand years. “My memories of taking part just months ago in a very beautiful ceremony, your inauguration, are still very fresh,” President Sarkissian said. “We are following your activities closely, especially in the area of foreign relations.”

The President of Armenia expressed confidence that cooperation in all areas, ranging from cultural to scientific and modern technologies has a huge potential, and everything must be done to make it deeper and more beneficial.

President Salome Zurabishvili thanked President Sarkissian for the hospitality and noted that Armen Sarkissian was the only president to participate in her inauguration. “It was a great honor for me,” she said. “It was a sign of friendship between our two countries which our public and I personally highly value.”

Salome Zurabishvili noted that the two nations have a long road to travel together, and it depends on them how they will use the huge potential existing in the region. The President of Georgia said that the two states are connected not only by the geography and history but also by the Armenian population of Georgia.
