Armenian-Georgian high level meeting: Today the history of the two nations is linked by the promise their future

In the framework of the official visit of the President of Georgia, today at the Presidential Palace the meeting of the delegations headed by the two Presidents took place in the extended format.

President Armen Sarkissian welcomed the first official visit of the Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili to Armenia. He noted that today the history of the two nations is linked by the promise of their future. “This is a very wide spectrum of cooperation, from our cultural, educational heritage up to modern technology, artificial intellect, energy, transport, tourism, etc.” President Sarkissian said. “Potential is huge. And in this potential, I highly value the direct, practical cooperation in distinct areas. The cooperation should be multifaceted.”

President Salome Zurabishvili said that the level of her delegation testifies to a great interest towards cooperation with Armenia. “Although our region is tense and complicated, we have been able to maintain stability and our attractiveness,” the President of Georgia said and noted that stability allows to design new programs in different areas. The parties agreed that there are great opportunities to develop cooperation in the areas of tourism, energy, infrastructure, new technologies, culture, and education. The two Presidents exchanged views on the cooperation in international settings and on the regional issues. They concurred that stability and predictability are important conditions for development.

The President of Georgia invited her Armenian colleague to the Georgia’s European Way International Conference to be held in July in Batumi. In his turn, President Sarkissian invited the President of Georgia to attend the Armenian Summit of Minds event which will take place in June, in Dilijan.
