President Sarkissian received Co-Rapporteurs of the PACE Monitoring Committee

President Armen Sarkissian met today with the Co-Rapporteurs of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Monitoring Committee for Armenia Yulia Lyovochkina and Andrej Sircelj.

The President of Armenia stressed the importance of the PACE monitoring process from the viewpoint of strengthening democracy in Armenia and underscored that our country was ready to continue the open and candid dialogue with this structure.

President Sarkissian noted that Council of Europe is Armenia’s important partner in the implementation of legislative reforms. He hailed the significant contribution of the European structures to Armenia’s development and strengthening of democracy.
The parties exchanged also views on the role and functions of the parliament and noted that its capacities and authority have increased.

The Co-Rapporteurs expressed readiness to continue their efforts to deepen the cooperation between Armenia and PACE.
