Descendants of the commanders, who fought in the Patriotic War, were hosted at the Presidential Palace
A group of representatives of the Victorious Commanders Memory Fund, which unites the descendants of the commanders, who fought in Great Patriotic War, were hosted today at the Presidential Palace. They have arrived to Armenia to participate at the meeting of the Union of the Armenians’ of Russia and Victorious Commanders Memory Fund.
Among the guests were the Chairman of Union of the Armenians’ of Russia Ara Abrahamian, Chairperson of the Executive Board of the Victorious Commanders Fund Natalia Koneva, the daughter of Marshal Ivan Konev, descendants of Marshals Hamazasp Babajanian and Hovhannes Baghramian. President Sarkissian welcomed their visit to Armenia and stressed that he was happy to host in the days of May victories the descendants of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War. “This is an exceptional opportunity. I would never think that the descendants of the heroes could gather in one place. And this is happening at the time when we are celebrating the victory in the Great Patriotic War. The victory is symbolic for us because we also celebrate the Liberation of Shushi and creation of Artsakh’s Defense Army. And one day earlier, we celebrated Homeland Defenders Day.”
The guests thanked the President for the hospitality and spoke of their impressions of the visit to Armenia and noted that honoring and celebration of the past victories allows to achieve new ones. At the conclusion of the meeting, they presented to Armen Sarkissian books about the heroic deeds of their fathers and grandfathers.
