President Sarkissian received students of the School of Liberal Policies: To have a vision, a strategy, a plan of action - this is the way for development

President Armen Sarkissian hosted today students of the School of Liberal Policies founded by the Enlightened Armenia political Party. Present at the meeting was also the Chairman of the Enlightened Armenia Party, member of the National Assembly Edmon Marukian.

During the conversation with the young people President Sarkissian responded to their questions which pertained in particular to the institute of presidency and presidential authorities, the role of parliamentary diplomacy, state governance system, and prospects of the country’s development. Responding to the students’ questions, President Sarkissian said that the world is changing.

The world of ideas, new technologies is coming, and this is only the beginning. “We need to know for sure where we are headed. If the course we have taken is not right, we will correct it along the way, but we need to know where we are going. If I know where the world will be in, let’s say, 10, 20, or 30 years from now, I can think of where I want to be in that world, what kind of state I want to have in that future world.”

President Sarkissian said that it is necessary to have a vision, a plan of development to know which direction to take, taking into consideration also the geopolitical conditions. “The world should be viewed in its entirety and we need to see ourselves in it, to have a vision, a strategic plan, and to move in that direction. But if there is no plan and I don’t know where I am going, where I will get, in that global train I will appear in the last wagon. I want our wagon to move forward,” President Sarkissian said.

He advised the young people to set higher goals, to think broadly and more comprehensively to be competitive, “Armenia should be the center for all Armenians of the world,” President Sarkissian underscored and noted that potential of all Armenians must be used for our development.
