The newly appointed Ambassador of Spain presented his credentials to President Sarkissian

Today, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Spain to the Republic of Armenia Fernando Valderama de Pareja (residence in Moscow) presented his credentials to President Sarkissian.

President Armen Sarkissian congratulated him and wished success in his diplomatic mission in Armenia.

Noting that the friendly relations of the ancient Christian Armenian and Spanish peoples have deep roots, President Sarkissian said that is necessary to invigorate steps aimed at strengthening a mutually beneficial ties and deepening cooperation in the areas of mutual interest.

Ambassador Pareja said he was glad to represent his country in Armenia and noted that during his service he met Armenians almost everywhere and has warm feelings toward them. He underscored that his efforts would be aimed particularly at making the two countries more recognizable for each other through culture, history, and investment opportunities, promotion of business contacts and establishment of close ties in different areas.

The parties stressed in particular a great potential existing in the area of tourism and noted that Armenians and Spaniards can discover a lot in Armenia and Spain. They viewed as promising also cooperation in the area of high technologies.
