Congratulatory message of President Armen Sarkissian on the occasion of Teacher's Day

Dear Teachers,

Today is your holiday, and I cordially congratulate you on this occasion and send you my best wishes.

One of my teachers used to say that only the teacher, in whom the pupil still lives, is a good teacher. I am confident that many of you like this saying. I learned years later that the saying belonged not to my teacher but to Otto von Bismark, the Iron Chancellor of Germany. But it is not important who is the author of this saying; important is the fact that he considered himself to be a pupil, hinting that it is necessary to learn not only during the school years but throughout one's life.

My first teachers were my parents, and the last one... as the famous hero of Vardges Petrossian would say, there is no such thing as the last teacher. We are learning all our life because we are living; the moment we stop learning, we stop living.

Today too, we learn to be human and remain human, to discover and adore our Fatherland, to live by it and make it live within us, we learn to live in a free country, think and create, to learn from success and failures, strive and reach our goals.

We learn not only our daily lessons but also repeat the lessons of yesterday and before that because yesterday is today's teacher.

We learn tomorrow's lessons, otherwise it will be impossible to move forward and improve. There is a teacher of some kind in all of us, but not all can be the Teacher. We remain students all our lives, and only some of us - Teachers.

Happy Holiday, Teacher!

Thank you, Teacher!
