Armenia is once again becoming an international center of classical music: President Armen Sarkissian hosted a group of participants of the Modern Classics composers’ festival

President Armen Sarkissian received today a group of participants of the Modern Classics composers’ festival, and among them the RA People’s Artist, composer Tigran Mansurian and the guest of honor of the festival, world-famous Polish composer Krzysztof Penderecki. The festival is organized at the initiative of Armenia’s State Symphonic Orchestra.

Welcoming the musicians, who have arrived to Armenia from different countries, and expressing thanks to the Creative Director and Chief Conductor of Armenia’s State Symphonic Orchestra Sergei Smbatian, the President of Armenia said in particular, “I am glad that Armenia is once becoming an international center of classical music. It is perfect that talented musicians from different countries will be visiting our country more often.” The guests told about cooperation with Armenia’s State Symphonic Orchestra, masterclasses for young musicians, and other plans.

President Sarkissian stressed the importance of cooperation in the area of arts and music and various joint programs, organization of new festivals and expressed readiness to assist in their implementation. Noting that different cultural events are being held also at the Presidential Palace, the President of Armenia proposed to organize in that framework a concert of classical music.
