Relations between Armenia and the Netherlands have great opportunities for development: the newly appointed Ambassador of the Netherlands presented her credentials to President Armen Sarkissian

Today, the newly appointed Ambassador of the Netherlands H. E. Maria Christina van Koldam (residence in Tbilisi) presented her credentials to President Armen Sarkissian.

The President congratulated the Ambassador and expressed confidence that during her tenure she would do her best to deepen and broaden the existing high-level Armenian-Dutch relations. The President conveyed his best wishes to His Majesty King of the Netherlands and the people of the country.

Ambassador Maria Christina van Koldam noted that the Netherlands is interested in developing the cooperation with Armenia and as the Ambassador of that country she would do her best to strengthen them further. She said that had visited Armenia 15 years ago and now would try to be here as often as possible. Noting that Armenia established an embassy in the Netherlands back in 1990s, President Sarkissian said that he was the first Armenian Ambassador to Holland and had the honor to present his credentials to His Majesty. “I have wonderful recollections of all our meetings,” Armen Sarkissian said.

The President of Armenia said that the relations of the two countries have great opportunities for development. “We have many things in common and can learn a lot from each other,” he noted. “Armenia is cooperating closely with the EAEU and also with the EU in the framework of the CEPA. It is our country’s advantage. In a sense, we are also a crossroad of cooperation and opportunities for interaction here are great.”

The interlocutors concurred that the two countries can successfully cooperate in the areas of modern technologies, financial and banking sectors. Stressed was also the importance of cultural exchanges. President Sarkissian expressed confidence that the rich experience of the Netherlands in parliamentary democracy could be useful for Armenia.
