President Sarkissian in the framework of the Forum in Davos met with the President of Iraqi Kurdistan: Armenia attaches importance to the development of multifaceted relations with the friendly Iraq, including Iraqi Kurdistan

In the framework of the World Economic Forum in Davos President Armen Sarkissian met with the President of Kurdistan region of Iraq Nechirvan Barzani.

Noting that Armenia has been following closely developments in the Middle East, President Sarkissian said that our country attaches importance to the development of multifaceted relations with the friendly Iraq, including Iraqi Kurdistan, and in the context of dynamic ties of the two countries, would continue to invigorate and deepen relations directly with Kurdistan. Among important factors, which could promote that cooperation, the President of Armenia noted the presence of the Armenian population; they live in Kurdistan region of Iraq and bring their contribution to its development.

Among possible areas of cooperation mentioned were IT, creative education, tourism, e-governance. President Sarkissian noted that the Armenian side is ready to share its experience in e-governance.

Along with the development of trade and economic relations, among other areas of cooperation they mentioned joint higher education, including teaching of students from Iraq, and Kurdistan in particular, at the Armenian universities.
