President Armen Sarkissian and Mrs. Nouneh Sarkissian visited the Saint Nicolas Armenian Church in Tel Aviv

President Armen Sarkissian, who is in the State of Israel on a working visit, and Mrs. Nouneh Sarkissian visited the Saint Nicolas Armenian Church in Jaffa.

The President and his spouse toured the Church compound, lit candles and conversed with the clergy.

The Church was built more than 10 centuries ago. There was a time when Armenian pilgrims made a long trip from Jaffa to Jerusalem, spent a nigh there, and then continued their journey. For that very reason, the Church was named after Saint Nicolas – the patron of pilgrims and sailors.
