President Armen Sarkissian met with the Ambassador of France in Armenia Jonathan Lacote

President Armen Sarkissian received today the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to the Republic of Armenia Jonathan Lacote.

The parties exchanged views on the situation in the world related to the global outbreak of a new coronavirus. Ambassador Lacote presented the current state in France and undertaken measures. Discussed were also opportunities of cooperation in this area.

Speaking about programs of cooperation between the two countries in different areas, President Sarkissian and Ambassador Lacote viewed in particular as promising the cooperation in the area of new technologies. In this context, mentioned was the ATOM (Advanced Tomorrow) Presidential initiative aimed at the development of technologies, science and education in Armenia. The initiative also strives to bring to Armenia leading information and high-tech companies to work on the development of artificial intelligence, mathematical modeling, machine teaching and implementation of educational programs. It was noted that Memorandums of Understanding would be signed soon with a number of renowned French companies while with some others preliminary agreement has been reached.

The interlocutors discussed also opportunities of cooperation in the area of modern technologies with some scientific and educational establishments in France.
