Creation of the Hay Park and Gyurjiev Park will be very important for Yerevan and Gyumri: President Sarkissian discussed his initiatives with the architect Sashur Kalashian

President Armen Sarkissian hosted the distinguished architect Sashur Kalashian.

They conversed about the two initiatives of the President of Armenia – creation of the Hay Park on the territory of the Tsitsernakaberd Memorial of the Armenian Genocide and park in Gyumri named after Gyurjiev - a great thinker and a native of Gyumri.

President Sarkissian noted that the opinion of the architect on both initiatives is important and not only because he is a co-author of the Genocide Memorial and Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute structures but also he made a great contribution to the preservation of the historical and architectural buildings in Gyumri. Thus, he designed and built the Kumairi historical and architectural refuge and museum.

Speaking of the objectives of his two initiatives, the President said that the Hay Park is based first of all on the idea of unity and joint work. An asset will created, which will serve not only our history and honor the memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide, but also the future. He also stressed the ecological importance of the Park for Yerevan.

As for the Gyurjiev Park in Gyumri, the idea envisages also the creation of a music hall, library and other infrastructure, a venue which can attract not only individuals associated with Gyurjiev and followers of his philosophical outlook in different countries of the world, but might become an interesting place for cultural events.

Sashur Kalashian hailed President’s ideas and said that he is ready to bring his professional capabilities and experience to assist in the implementation of the projects important for our people, and especially for Yerevan and Gyumri.
