President Armen Sarkissian hosted a group of medical workers from Italy: your assistance proves that we are not only friends in need but also friendship of two ancient nations is enduring

President Armen Sarkissian hosted today a group of medical workers from Italy who have arrived to Armenia to assist their Armenian colleagues in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic. Present at the meeting were also the First Deputy Minister of the Health Anahit Harutyunian and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Italy in Armenia Vincenzo Del Monaco.

President Sarkissian thanked the Italian medical personnel for the assistance and noted that it would be much nicer to host them not during the pandemic but on a visit to discover and see Armenia. “But currently the world is facing the coronavirus pandemic; our two country have been going through serious changes. You are here to help us,” the President said. “Thus, today I thank each of you and you all, I thank Italy, the people of Italy, and my good friend, President Sergio Mattarella. This proves that we are not only friends in need but also the millennia-long friendship of the two ancient nations is enduring.”

The President invited all medical workers to visit Armenia again, after the pandemic.

Ambassador Vincenzo Del Monaco noted that experience of the Italian medical workers would be useful for the Armenian colleagues and the friendly people of Armenia. “The main massage of the pandemic is that this challenge can be defeated only through cooperation. The pandemic has taught us that important is not interconnection but unity,” the Ambassador of Italy said.
