President Armen Sarkissian spoke on the phone with the President of Italy Sergio Mattarella

President Armen Sarkissian spoke today on the phone with the President of the Italian Republic Sergio Mattarella.

President Sarkissian congratulated him on the occasion of his birth anniversary and wished him all the best.

During a cordial conversation the Presidents spoke about bilateral relations and stated their high level and great potential for development. The two Presidents concurred that President Sarkissian’s state visit to Italy this fall will give a new impetus to the multifaceted Armenian-Italian relations which are testified to by the close and ancient relations between the two peoples and countries as well as personal cordial friendship of the two Presidents.

Noting that culture unites Armenia and Italy in the best possible way, the Presidents of Armenia and Italy stressed the importance of the exhibitions to be displayed at the Presidential Palaces in Yerevan and Rome and dedicated to Venice and Armenian painting respectively.

The Presidents exchanged views on the situation with coronavirus in two countries and avenues to overcome it. The President of Armenia thanked his Italian counterpart for the assistance provided to Armenia in the fight against the pandemic and noted that recently he met with the team of Italian medical workers who had come to assist their Armenian colleagues and pass on their experience of fighting coronavirus. President Sarkissian underscored that President Mattarella’s personal input in that assistance was great and expressed confidence that only through joint efforts it would be possible to overcome the pandemic and get back to normal. President Mattarella in his turn hailed President Sarkissian’s support in difficult for Italy days.
