President Armen Sarkissian had a farewell meeting with Vincenzo del Monaco, Ambassador of Italy to Armenia

Today President of the Republic Armen Sarkissian received Vincenzo del Monaco, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Italy to Armenia who is completing his diplomatic mission in Armenia.

The President of the Republic highly appreciated the work of Ambassador del Monaco and thanked him for his personal contribution and efforts in the development and deepening of Armenian - Italian relations.

During the meeting they also spoke about the military aggression unleashed against Artsakh by Azerbaijan and Turkey. The parties emphasized that there is no military solution to the conflict, and the issue may be resolved only through negotiations.

They also touched upon the current level and development potential of the Armenian-Italian relations. It has been noted that in recent years, high level reciprocal visits, agreements on cooperation in cultural, scientific-technical, technological and other spheres, as well as historical and cultural ties between the two friendly peoples are a good basis to establish closer relations in the future.

Ambassador Vincenzo del Monaco thanked President Sarkissian for his immense contribution to the bilateral relations. “I have a big 'takeaway' with me after these two and a half years as I have spent a tremendous time in your country. I came in a very critical moment and I am so sorry to leave, when there is so much suffering and so many losses, when the war is so close. I am taking with me this Armenian imprint of your friendship and the beauty of people and in the meantime; I am so sad to leave under the current circumstances. I wish each and every Armenian health and peace," said the Ambassador.
