President Armen Sarkissian visited the Arthur Tarkhanyan Centre

Today, President Armen Sarkissian visited the Centre named after Honoured Architect Arthur Tarkhanyan, where the Museum of Armenian Modernism functions.

Accompanied by the founding director of the Centre, architect Anahit Tarkhanyan, President Sarkissian got acquainted with the exhibition, which presents the specimens of Armenian architectural modernism, the history of creating such structures and their peculiarities.

"We have a great architectural heritage, and the purpose of this museum is to show the younger generations how these monuments, which are considered examples of not only Armenian but also world modernism, were created, what their history and value are," said Anahit Tarkhanyan, introducing the activities of the Centre to the President of the Republic.

President Sarkissian highly appreciated the establishment of such a cultural institution and the Centre's efforts to present and preserve the Armenian architectural heritage.

In the museum, which opened in 2020, it is possible to get acquainted with the creation history of the famous monuments of Armenian architecture of the last century: from Tamanyan’s buildings to the Youth Palace, the Armenian Genocide Memorial, Zvartnots Airport, Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concert Complex, their descriptions, engineering work, and architectural value.
