President Armen Sarkissian and his wife Mrs. Nouneh Sarkissian visited the Hovhannes Sharambeyan Museum of Folk Art
Today, President of the Republic Armen Sarkissian and his wife Nouneh Sarkissian visited the Hovhannes Sharambeyan Museum of Folk Art.
President Armen Sarkissian and Nouneh Sarkissian toured the permanent and temporary exhibition halls of the museum, getting acquainted with the specimens of wood, metal and stone art, embroidery, carpet weaving, and pottery.
President Sarkissian emphasized the role of the museum in preserving the values of tangible and intangible heritage, ensuring continuity and arousing public interest in Armenian folk art. At the same time, he stressed that there is a lot to be done in the spheres of popularizing Armenian works of art on international platforms, preserving Armenian cultural heritage, and in this regard, attached importance to the continuous state support.
The director of the museum Lusine Toroyan informed President Armen Sarkissian and Mrs. Nouneh Sarkissian about the educational programs being implemented, within the framework of which particularly orphanage children, residents of nursing homes and injured soldiers are taught crafts. President Sarkissian proposed to organize an exhibition of the best works of the program participants at the Residence of the President of the Republic.
