President Vahagn Khachaturyan met the President of Russia Vladimir Putin

Being in St. Petersburg on a working visit, the President of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan met the President of Russia Vladimir Putin.

The RF President noted:

“I’m very glad to meet you.

I hope you don’t regret coming and participating in the St. Petersburg economic forum.
We have been holding this event for 25 years and it has become a guideline for our country, Russia. Hopefully, for our partners, too.

Armenia is not solely our partner, it’s our strategic ally, and we appreciate it. We understand everything happening today within and around Armenia. We are determined to develop our partnership. We are interested in maintaining stability and guaranteeing development in the country.

I am full of hope that our today’s meeting will also contribute to that.

So, I am very glad to welcome you here.”

President Khachaturyan particularly noted:

“I have been to St. Petersburg long ago. I visited the city a lot during the Soviet Union years, from the 1980s to 1992. This is an opportunity to see how the city has changed and, as the former mayor of Yerevan, I can mention that the city really looks very good. t’s so clean, so beautiful.

As for the Petersburg Forum, this is my first time taking part in it, but as an economist, I have always followed and appreciated it, as from the economic point of view there are very interesting discussions. Thank you for the invitation.

The Armenian nation appreciates your efforts aimed at the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. I can tell that your efforts aimed at stopping the war are highly appreciated not only by me personally but surely also by the Armenian nation. It’s very important to stop the war. It’s also very important for us to make sure that the agreements reached are respected.

No need to even mention our historical friendship, as where there is a brotherhood, there is no need for words. This is what brotherhood is like, this is its essence, its philosophy, everything: it is trust, honesty, joint projects and joint actions that we should keep on bringing to life. This is my position as a citizen and as an individual, and this approach surely helps me as a president.

I am sure that our relations will have further development, and we should contribute to that.”

During the meeting, the parties made reference to a wide range of issues on the agenda of Armenian-Russian relations․
