President Vahagn Khachaturyan received the delegation of the Armenian Assembly of America

President Vahagn Khachaturyan received the Co-Chairs of the Board of Trustees of the Armenian Assembly of America Van Krikorian and Anthony Barsamian, and the Assembly's executive director Bryan Ardouny.

Vahagn Khachaturyan expressed his appreciation to the Armenian Assembly of America for their principled position to always stand by the side of the state and for the numerous projects carried out since 1990.

“You have always been by the side of our state, regardless of its leaders. This is momentous, as you have always unconditionally supported our statehood and helped the citizens of Armenia. I truly value that, as oftentimes, political and ideological differences obstruct unity”, said President Khachaturyan.

Expressing his gratitude for the reception, the Co-Chairs of the Board of Trustees of the Assembly Van Krikorian noted that both within the Diaspora and in Diaspora-Armenia relations, one of the main principles of the Armenian Assembly’s activity is unity and support for the Armenian statehood.

During the meeting, President Khachaturyan presented to the guests details on the Azerbaijani aggression of September 13. The President touched upon Armenia’s current safety challenges, the general situation and expectations in the Armenian-Azerbaijani negotiation process. The President emphasized that Armenia is open in the relations with all the partners, including the US and the countries of the European Union, and has a definite position to establish sustainable and everlasting peace in the region.

During the conversation, the sides exchanged ideas on Armenia-Diaspora relations, as well as the general atmosphere on the country. The President noted that, on its way towards carrying our reforms, Armenia also needs the support of the organizations in the Diaspora. Yet, there is a need to reformulate the content of the support, and to be guided by the principles of development and implementation of programs and not direct and one-time charitable help.
