President Vahagn Khachaturyan had a meeting with the Secretary-General of the Arab League Ahmend Aboul Gheit

Within the framework of the 27th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, President Vahagn Khachaturyan had a meeting with the Secretary-General of the Arab League Ahmend Aboul Gheit.

President Khachaturyan noted that Armenian-Arabian relations have a centuries-old history and develop through political, economic and cultural multi-layered cooperation. The President emphasized that the relations with the Arab world are always a priority for the foreign policy of Armenia.

Ahmed Aboul Gheit noted that Armenia is a cherished partner and friend for the Arab world, and they are eager to spare no effort to create platforms for closer cooperation.

During the meeting, President Khachaturyan expressed his concerns regarding the anti-Armenian, untrue pieces of the speech that the President of Azerbaijan delivered during the Arab League Summit, where he tried to distort the content of the Nagorno Kharabakh conflict and present it as a religious conflict. The President emphasized that Armenia has a lot of friends in the Muslim world, the Republic of Armenia is a democratic country and any manifestation of religious discrimination or intolerance is excluded there.

The Secretary-General of the Arab league highlighted that he is undoubtedly interested in taking actions aimed at smoothing out the misunderstandings to the extent possible and contributing to providing the Armenian side with a right to present its own position.

At the end of the meeting, the sides reached a bilateral agreement to continue close manifold contacts.
