Welcoming the guests, President Vahagn Khachaturyan noted that he finds the involvement of young people in the process of establishing parliamentary diplomacy very important. He also touched upon the current possibilities of the settlement of the conflict.

In his speech, President Khachaturyan also touched on the first years of independence of the Republic of Armenia and noted that in that very period, Armenia chose the path of establishing democracy and democratic institutions, and till today, Armenia hasn’t fallen out of that path, surely overcoming hardships and obstacles.

Speaking of the regional realities, the President emphasized that Armenia’s position in reaching sustainable and lasting peace in the South Caucasus is definite and has no alternatives.

The President spoke of the perspectives of the normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations: “Armenia’s position regarding the normalization of the relations with Turkey is lucid: we tend to open the borders without any preconditions and establish diplomatic relations afterwards. We had such an opportunity 13 years ago, yet it didn’t work out due to some circumstances. We hope that this time, we’ll manage to achieve the expected result,” noted the President.
