Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Belgium to the Republic of Armenia Eric de Muynck presented his credentials to the President of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan.

The President congratulated the newly-appointed Ambassador and wished him success in fulfilling his responsible mission.

"Once again, my heartfelt congratulations to you. We established diplomatic relations on the last day of 1991. Now we have full representation here in your person. This also attests to the fact that, indeed, our relations have always been at a high level in political and other spheres. Taking into account your experience, I am convinced that we will achieve new success,"
the President noted.

Expressing gratitude for the reception, the Ambassador noted, "The Belgian government has decided to open an Embassy in Armenia, which is crucial for our bilateral relations. I met with a number of representatives of the Armenian community in Belgium. All of them welcome and are very happy about the opening of the Embassy. The opening of the Embassy is surely a sign of the importance that Belgium attaches to relations with Armenia."

During the meeting, the sides discussed issues on the agenda of further deepening Armenian-Belgian cooperation. Ambassador Eric de Muynck underscored that he will make efforts to contribute to the development of Armenian-Belgian multi-level contacts.

The interlocutors touched upon the issues related to providing humanitarian assistance to those forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh.
