President Vahagn Khachaturyan receives the representative of UNICEF in Armenia, Christine Weigand

President of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan received the representative of UNICEF in Armenia, Christine Weigand.

In his welcome remarks, the President specifically noted, "Since 1994, when UNICEF opened its office in Armenia, we have always sensed your presence in our country, in the areas of child protection, education and healthcare among many others. We highly appreciate the great humanitarian work performed by the Organization and the programs that are implemented alongside various state agencies of the Republic of Armenia."

Expressing her gratitude for the reception, Christine Weigand noted that for nearly three decades, UNICEF has implemented numerous programs in Armenia, which are of a consistent nature.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the prospects of further promotion of cooperation between the Armenian state agencies and the Organization in the field of education, healthcare and others.

Ideas were exchanged on the urgent need to provide multifaceted psycho-social support to children forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh. In this context, President Vahagn Khachaturyan expressed his gratitude for the humanitarian work performed by UNICEF, noting that UNICEF was one of the first international organizations that responded to the humanitarian crisis, supporting the pursuit of solutions to children's issues in key areas.

During the discussion, the sides touched upon UNICEF's initiatives within the framework of the 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
